OBJECTIVES

Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility (SAIF), formerly Regional Sophisticated Instrumentation Centre (RSIC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai is the first among the RSIC's established by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. It has been specializing in spectroscopy and structure determination for the past two decades. The facility is equipped with instruments to carry out spectral measurements, structure determination and chemical analysis. SAIF, IIT Madras is maintained by a group of well recognized scientists with expertise over a range of spectroscopic technologies used for structure determination.

We also have technical backup by well-trained staff for operation and maintenance. Our personnel have been trained in operation and maintenance at the factories of the respective instruments. The facility actively caters to the research needs of the scientists throughout India. Our engineers design and develop equipment and accessories as necessary. Periodically, SAIF conducts workshops, seminars and conferences to explain the functioning of the instruments to the scientists all over India. They are also given hands-on experience on various instruments.

SAIF has been serving the research community in a significant way. We invite industries to use the facilities and the technical know-how present in SAIF. In addition to routine testing and characterization, we also offer consultancy services.
